Nestled in the charming heart of Verona, Trattoria La Molinara offers an authentic Italian dining experience that beautifully blends traditional flavors with a cozy, inviting atmosphere. This delightful restaurant is located at Piazzetta Ottolini, 4, just a stone's throw away from the bustling tourist spots, making it a hidden gem cherished by locals and discerning travelers alike.

As you step inside, you’re greeted by the warmth of rustic charm, adorned with wooden tables and intimate lighting that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. The ambience is lively yet comfortable, often filled with chatter and laughter from groups of young Italians savoring their meals—a true testament to its local popularity.

The cuisine at Trattoria La Molinara is a celebration of Italian culinary traditions, with a special emphasis on rich flavors and fresh ingredients. Among the standout dishes, the Tortellini burro alle erbe paired with a sumptuous fonduta di monte vecchio and veal sauce (€14.00) is a must-try. Equally enticing are the Pappardelle al cinghiale, which brings a rustic touch of wild boar goodness, and the delightful Paccheri pesto di pistacchi e guanciale, both priced at €14.00. Each dish boasts a skillful balance that delights the palate, leaving diners craving more.

Make sure to sample their secondu piatti as well, particularly the Tagliata alla griglia with grilled radicchio (€22.00), a dish that perfectly encapsulates the essence of Italian cooking with its tenderness and robust flavors. For those adventurous foodies, the horsemeat specialties like Tartare or a grilled Fianchetto are highly recommended, showcasing the restaurant's unique flair and commitment to local culinary traditions.

The dining experience is further enhanced by a thoughtful touch—they serve delicious tap water rather than bottled, underscoring their commitment to sustainability. A cover charge of just €3.50 includes a delightful variety of bread, which, according to many guests, is a perfect companion for the flavors that follow.

Despite the absence of tourist traps, guests rave about their experiences here. Robert Verberk recalls an “excellent lunch” in a cozy atmosphere, while Ginny Burns enthuses about the insane flavors she discovered in her pasta dishes, particularly highlighting the less-sweet yet flavorful tiramisu. Emily also appreciates the thoughtful touch of included tap water and the delightful starter of bread, making every meal feel special.

Reservations are recommended, as Trattoria La Molinara fills up quickly, a sign of its popularity among locals and visitors alike. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an experience rich with the essence of Italian culture and hospitality.

If you’re in Verona and looking for a dining experience that offers both authentic Italian flavors and a welcoming atmosphere, look no further than Trattoria La Molinara. Your taste buds will thank you!

We loved the food so much. The bread was delicious with the mountain of mortadella to start us off. The flavours were insane in both the paccheri and the tagliatelle. The tiramisu was great, less sweet than some that I’ve had, but a great mascarpone flavour and you could actually taste the coffee flavour too, which a lot don’t really have. We stumbled on this restaurant on a day trip from Lake Garda and as we were trying to get away from the busy centre of Verona, but the restaurant was still very full and just managed to squeeze us in. Seemed to be mostly locals compared to tourists too. Would recommend a reservation if you are planning on coming here

Keen to avoid tourist hotspots we asked our apartment host for a recommendation for a restaurant favoured by locals and he came up with this. On arrival we found it full of young Italians in groups around big tables noisily tucking into a very eclectic menu that had a section just for horsemeat dishes. Being a little squeamish I opted for a beef dish that turned out to be served raw! C'est la vie. Undoubtedly this is an authentic Veronese dining experience. Just be careful what you order.

Absolutely fantastic food, pasta was so delicious and flavorful with great texture. The restaurant is very pretty inside with a nice setting. I really, really love that they don’t even try to give you bottled water, it’s so much less wasteful. Delicious tap water is included in the cover, which is extremely reasonable at 3.50 when you consider you get a variety of bread (which unfortunately I can’t eat but at least there are options) and an entire heap of delicious fresh sliced mortadella. This restaurant may have been my favorite experience in Verona lol If I am ever in the area again I will have to come back and try more of the menu!

One of the best meals we’ve ever had in Italy. They know what they’re doing. Make reservations, they fill up fast.

you get bread and fresh mortadella to start with which is perfect. Four of us got pasta, all were really really good. Worth the price too.

Very local place, the staff are efficient but not the friendliest and the food was average. Really cute interior decorations!

Great place, really happy I found it. Real Italian food, i believe most of other guests were Italians and not tourists so you know it must be good. Amazing vitello tonnato, great steak, we also tried tagliatelle and was nothing to complain about. Another success was the wine, and on top of that everything was reasonably priced. We had an online reservation and they couldn’t find it so perhaps better do it via phone so you don’t miss the experience.
